One of the biggest fears that I seem to encounter more than any other fear is the fear of public speaking. It seems to affect both students, CEO’s and company directors alike. In this post i’m going to show you one way in which you can overcome the fear of public speaking using hypnosis.
The first thing to understand is that fear is really false evidence appearing real (F.E.A.R) and therefore it can be easily let go with practice. The key to letting go of any fear is to engage with it and confront it in some shape or form.
It seems a very strange almost counter-intuitive thing to do doesn’t it to confront the very thing you are fearful off. The next part is a step by step process that will help you become a more confident public speaker and focus your mind for success. It will require effort and determination on your part but then again the result you want will be worth it.
Step 1: Get clear on what you want to achieve with your public speaking. Do you want to feel calmer and more relaxed, do you want a successful and profitable deal to go your way. What is it you want to achieve?
Step 2: Get a sense or feeling as to what it would be like if you gave the perfect presentation. Notice how you feel. Do you feel relaxed and confident. Now try to get a sense as to how that feels that good, relaxed feeling. What you feel inside is what you create outside.
Step 3: Measure yourself on a scale of 1-10. 1 the worst presentation and 10 being the best ever presentation. Notice where you are. If you can’t get to be a 10 on the scale then make a firm decision and commitment that you can and you will do it.
Step 4: Now imagine always being nervous when giving a presentation. Again measure yourself on a scale of 1-10. 1 being the least nervous and 10 being the most nervous. Any thoughts and feelings that get stirred up just allow them to leave. We’re not interested in the story and the drama. Just allow all those thoughts and pictures to be there, and allow them to leave. If you get stuck, just stay with that stuckness and ask yourself: ‘What do you need me to do so that you can leave now?’ See what answer you get and take that action.
Step 5: Repeat Step 3 and always finish on a high. So right now imagine having a perfect presentation. Feel relaxed, Feel confident. Notice those good feelings and make a decision to be a 10 on the scale 1 being the worst presentation and 10 being the best presentation.
Practice the above exercise and you will soon notice that your fears about public speaking will soon leave. Remember though focus your mind on what you want. Don’t dwell in the negative and have everything to do with the positive.
